A child, who is eligible for Medicaid is not eligible for CHIP enrollment. When you receive an application, you must determine if the child qualifies for Medicaid. (See the Medicaid Manual for eligibility rules) Exceptions:
Those who qualify for Medicaid only by paying a monthly spenddown or MWI premium and choose not to meet the spenddown or premium to become eligible for Medicaid may be enrolled in CHIP.
Refugees must be considered for CHIP before they can qualify for Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA).
